Scholarly Family Background
Maulana Hasan Rabbani comes from a distinguished religious and scholarly family with a long tradition of Islamic learning, teaching and Dawah. His father, Maulana Ateeq Ullah, was among the prominent leaders associated with the international Tablighi Jamaat and devoted a substantial part of his life to religious outreach.
His grandfather, Qazi Ismat Ullah, was a recognised scholar of his era. Before the establishment of Pakistan, hundreds of students from within the region and abroad stayed with him to pursue religious studies. His scholarly legacy remained influential across a broad circle.
Education and Scholarly Training
He received his early religious education at a madrasa in Jaburi and subsequently continued his studies at a well-known religious seminary in Hangu. He later moved to Karachi for advanced Islamic education, studying at Jamia Uloom-ul-Islamia Allama Banuri Town and subsequently at Jamia Farooqia, Shah Faisal, Karachi.
At Jamia Farooqia he studied under the eminent Shaykh al-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Saleemullah Khan and received authorization in Hadith from him. He also maintained a scholarly and religious association with Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai Shaheed. He completed his formal studies at Jamia Farooqia in 1988/89.
Nearly Four Decades of Teaching
Maulana Hasan Rabbani began teaching immediately after graduation. His teaching career has therefore extended for nearly four decades, with a particular emphasis on Hadith, traditional Islamic sciences, scholarly development and the religious and moral training of students.
For approximately the past twelve years, he has also been teaching Sahih al-Bukhari, alongside wider teaching and mentoring responsibilities.
